Australian Student Visa (Subclass 500) with Study Mate Migration
The Student visa (subclass 500) lets you study a registered course in Australia for up to 6 years, in line with your enrolment. Study Mate Migration, an Adelaide education and migration consultancy, helps you choose the right course, secure your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and lodge a complete visa application with a Registered Migration Agent (MARN 2518899).
What you usually need
- A valid Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) in a registered course
- Evidence that you meet the Genuine Student requirement
- English language evidence, if required for your situation
- Enough money for your course, travel and living costs
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for your whole stay
- Health and character checks, and welfare arrangements if you are under 18

Can I work on a Student visa?
Yes. You can usually work up to 48 hours a fortnight while your course is in session, and unlimited hours during scheduled course breaks. Always check the conditions on your own visa grant.
Can I change my course after I arrive?
Often yes, but you generally need to stay at the same or a higher course level. Moving to a lower level usually needs a new visa first. See our guide to changing course on a Student visa.
Is OSHC compulsory?
Yes. Student visa holders must keep Overseas Student Health Cover for their whole stay unless an exemption applies. Read OSHC explained.
What happens after I graduate?
Many graduates apply for the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) to stay and work, and some go on to skilled migration.
